Personal Financing – Cutting Down On Your Spending

We all know how important it is to spend less so that we can save more, but far too few of us do a good job at it. Statistics show Americans to be abysmal savers. Our society worships the good life. We can’t let our neighbors, friends, or coworkers beat us in the game of acquiring “things.”

Advertisers tell us how important it is to have “things” and if we don’t have them, we are made to feel that we have failed. To give you an idea of how acquisitive we have become, many bankruptcy attorneys are reporting the absolute unwillingness of near-bankrupt people to take action to avert bankruptcy – to give up their second homes, their boats, their late-model cars, and other trappings of the wealth they don’t possess. As precarious as their financial situation is, they feel entitled to them. This is how bad it has become.
